Welcome
this here is our new online platform. it's the bottom-up approach, starting at the roots, us students in SUTROFOR. We can make of it what we want it to be, and it will be as useful and helpful as the effort we put into it. We're on the seed level here, let's make something out of it; after all, we do like seeing things grow, specially trees. So to start with I ask that we name this blog. As you can see right now it's "SUTROFOR Students"...obvious and boring, it works for now but we can do better. So please send in your suggestions and we'll decide on it (you can make comments to this post).
I'll start by suggesting "The Baobab". It's Tanzania for me, and I found myself completely amazed by those tree giants. First year students should know...the 2012 Joint Summer Module was in the East Usambara Mountains of Tanzania.
AND, this blog builds on student input, meaning posts (professors will be invited to contribute also, e.g. on conferences, internship and job opportunities, research, etc.), so anybody interested in contributing is more than welcome. Ideally, we could have at least one student from each of the consortium institutions, ideally +, a mix of 1st and 2nd year students, ideally ++, all 30 current students in the program (plus alumni). So please, contribute, if not by posting as a main contributor at least by visiting the blog and making comments. One thing I know for sure, when it comes to work, collaboration is the best, if we start know as students, we'll have this great network of colleagues for life.
cheers,
Alan
Well i think this is a very good platform for all students to interact effectively and this will go along way to help us know each other better and enhance our learning and communication!
