In the run up to FERN's Guardians of the forest? event, they have been uploading presentations explaining the key concepts behind Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD), Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) and carbon trading. These summarise the key issues which SUTROFOR students cover in their first year and add a little about issues outside the course.
There are six presentations, the final one will be available on 9 October, the day of the conference. Take a look at 'Module 6: Lessons from FLEGT for REDD' below for FERN's view of how progress from FLEGT should be used to benefit future REDD negotiations.
